At first, nothing seemed too unusual. I was shy of the chain but also aroused by the idea that everyone would assume I was totally at the mercy of Daniel’s whim. He was a good-looking man and really did look sharp in his suit, and as we entered, people’s gazes lingered on him before turning to me and looking me up and down approvingly – men and women alike – much as Albert had done at the door.

I was so self-conscious and obsessed with what people would think of me that at first I failed to return their gaze. Daniel led me across the full length of the room, and settled me at the back of it in an ancient-looking wooden chair.

‘What do you think?’ he asked, gesturing across the swarming room to me. ‘Don’t the women look radiant?’

I had mainly been watching the men, enjoying their elegant suits and the confident way they all seemed to hold themselves. But as I focused more on the women, I noticed that each wore a collar just like mine, and was tethered to a man. In fact, looking closer still, I saw more than one woman whose collar led to the wrists of two different men, one either side.

I turned back to Daniel to reply. ‘I don’t understand. Is everyone the same? Has everyone been kidnapped for the night?’ I said this with a twinkle, but he looked pained at the suggestion.

‘Please, I want you to enjoy yourself. Tell me now if you’re not comfortable,’ he whispered. ‘I won’t mind. But tell me now for sure – I won’t ask again, or else you won’t be able to relax.’

I spoke honestly. ‘I want to stay. I don’t want to be anywhere else but here, with you.’ He smiled with relief, and kissed me briefly, stroking my hair.

‘We’ll say no more about it, then,’ he said. ‘Now be quiet, and watch over there. Some people are starting already.’

I opened my mouth to ask, ‘Starting what?’ but remembered myself and closed it again. I looked where Daniel had pointed. A couple were standing on a raised platform – too small to be called a stage, but a little area not five feet square, with a chair in the middle, which the couple stood to the side of. As we watched, the man took the chair, slowly, slowly, and tugged at his wrist, forcing the woman to come closer. He angled his wrist once again, and pulled her gently towards his lap. For a moment I was utterly shocked, surprised at the idea that we might see something as graphic as a blow job, but then the woman moved at her partner’s coaxing into a position across his lap, and I understood.

The man sat bolt upright with the woman bent entirely across him, her blonde hair now hiding her face as it almost touched the ground, her bottom in its neat black pencil skirt directly in his lap. Her knees were bent and her toes just skimmed the floor.
